Wintersun 2006 The Cars

This year was a bit wetter and colder than last year, but that didn't seem to deter many from attending and showing their cars. I have taken many photos of what attracted me. Some are nice, some are weird, and other down right ugly. So whatever you're into, there should be something interesting to look at.

Here was the first photo that I took as we were walking from our unit to the main show areas. I heard it first, then looked at the old banger putting by. Next pic is a nice Willys coupe. I like the colour scheme.

I liked the induction set up on this. I think it's Ford, but the induction is custom. It may just be carbies. If it is, then it's well disguised. The next one is, well, weird. Plate says 29RAT. I think he's right.

Big 66 Plymouth looks nice and sleek. Next is a low 34 3WC. Many of these getting around now.

I don't know about this. Seems to have a 60s feel with the bobbed guards. I guess we could all have an opinion on what we like or dislike about this rod. I kinda like it, except for the fake tubes out the hood.. Same for the next pic. The suicide front end is different.

True 34. So I guess it's steel. I kinda like the HiBoy look. Next is a nice Tub running EFI.

These guys were cruising all week. It sounded real tough. 429 meant for business I think. Next is a 66 'Stang with a  blower. This was one sweet ride.

Don't see to many woddies, especially as original and nice as this 37 Buick?

Another Cusso, or is it a Vicky?. Whatever it is, it's nice and simple. Colour grows on me the more I look at it. Next pic takes me back to my youth. The first real street machine I built was a MK3 Zephry. I still have a soft spot for them and often think about getting another one, but I have enough on my plate now...I'll keep dreaming.

The NZ guys dragged this XM over from home. It was a tafe project that was built in a couple of weeks. Conversion to 2 door and neat fins included. They cruised all weekend as well. The next is a Caddy of course. The ultimate cruising machine, but I think with the price of fuel these days, it will cruise less and less..

The bikes got a look in again. Some nice machinery amongst that lot. Next is another woody. A 40s something Ford.

One of the last Hudsons in original condition. Next is a Chev? 2 door TUB. I would ditch the wheels and scoop if I owned it, but hey, if he digs it, then who cares.

This 34 is owned by friends of ours, Bill and Jill from Orange. They drive this everywhere. It is very nice. In fact, Bill and me had an agreement that neither of us would sell our 34s. I guess I piked.  The Stang looks nice as well. Not overly done with trinkets.

The colour scheme looks fantastic on this coupe. I don't know about the wheels though.

The 34 DR Dodge looks like a resto rod. Fully equipped with the 2 spares. Next the Humpy looks neat

The Willys looks like its about to launch.Next, the A model 5 window looks straight and clean.

Lilac 34 Tudor is just tasteful enough. Next, Buick? maybe. Very straight indeed

This 32 roadster was very nice, and for sale. The XP coupe was fantastic in every way. One of my  picks of the whole show.

I took this as an example for anyone else considering putting rubber band tyres on a nice Mustang...DON'T. Next, the big Chev Impala was very nice. Even a die hard Ford guy like me would love to have it.

Well, what can I say. A cross between the Munster's coach and a hearse. It attracted a lot of attention.

The 32 bucket? looks plain but nice. Next looks like an  Ed Roth creation. It cruised around as well.

The coupe looks like a 33 Ford with a different grill, but the attention it got from me was because of the hemi. Next is a modified hearse I suspect. Very nice indeed.

The chopping of this Mercury was on display both days. Every time we walked by, the sparks were flying. Next is a Comaro with that Harlequin paint that was the rage a few years back. Nice job, but I personally don't like the effect.

Neat 34 Chev roadster...very nice. Nice F100 in a prominent postion.

I bet many rodders were wishing they could get their hands on this pristine 36 coupe. Personally, I hope they never do. The engine had enough to pretend it was a Rod.

I think I took pics of this last year. I still love it. The colour is perfect. The frenching of the twin aerials was clever.

Big 59..yep, sure is. The purple coupe looks like a 37 Plymouth. It needs some spruising up IMHO. First would be new wheels.

Its says 26 Chev on the plate. I'm no expert on Chevs, but did they build that rear section back in 1926?. He had it for sale. I was told he was asking over 40 grand for it. As they said in the classic Aussie film, The Castle, "he's dreamin"

Big, black and grunty. This hemi Dodge looked serious.

Oh, yeah...how could I not be attracted to a nicely detailed Clevo in a 34 coupe.

This got the vote from me as the biggest, longest car at the show. A 1958 Buick Riviera. Just have a look at this thing. I could hardly fit it in the frame of my camera.

Here is one for the Poms. I think they call them Populars. Next, a big purple thing, nearly as big as the Riviera.

I walked past this and had a double take on the engine. I believe its a Gen3, but check out the blower drive. Its at the rear. I wish I could have spoken to the owner. It was still LHD, so I guess it was done over in the States.
