First Annual Pub Cruise to Menangle 2007
| This was the first run organised by Cool
Customs to the Menangle Pub. These guys are basically a group of guys that
wanted an informal run to a great location and invited anyone with a rod,
custom or classic car to attend. Marg and me were keen to attend, not only because we are friends with one of the organisers, but Marg wanted to go topless for the first time...well...er...I mean in the 37 with the top down. The weather was threatening in the morning and a couple of sprinkles of rain while we gathered at Camden had me contemplating a frantic time getting the top back up, but luckily, that's all we got. The rest of the day was fine, in fact, very warm, but it was a pleasure to drive the 37 with the top down for the very first time. Marg came prepared with a scarf and enjoyed the drive as well. There were approximately 70 odd cars in the procession from Camden to Menangle. It was a pleasant sight with many locals just stopping to take in this impromptu parade. Once we arrived at the pub, the management had prepared very well for the influx of cars. The back bar, that was similar to a large pergola with a bar and food service was fantastic. All the cars had plenty of room to park in the grassed area around the grounds. The food was great and bar staff very obliging, they even came around with chilled water and insect repellent. Later on, they organised a band to entertain the crowd, Sadly, they didn't play what most wanted to hear. Later on, some of us played our CDs in the pergola and done a bit of dancing. All in all, a fantastic day out. We can't wait until next year. Any way, here are some pics of the cars that were there. |
| I've seen this Prowler before and and never tired of looking at it. It fits in well with all the old customs, like the Lincoln Zephyr that has been seen winning trophies wherever its goes. It was nice to see it at a run that has no judging or trophies, mingling with all the other cars. |

| What a beautiful car and to see it natural sunlight makes it even more spectacular. The interior was just as nice. |
| This blown 350 in this 34 coupe was just perfect. The 32 coupe had a touch of nostalgia running fenderless and bonnetless. |
| This A Tudor was nice as well. What would an Aussie run be without a few Humpies, great to see. |
| This replica Ford GT40 has been around for few years now and still draws attention. |
| I think this Effy was impersonating a lawn mower...doing a fine job at it. Plenty of nice examples of Tri 5s there as well. |
| OK, who says I don't like traditional rods? The flatty powered A roadster got my attention didn't it?. Even Trans Am muscle cars came along and rubbed fenders with rods and customs. |
| This is what I would build if I had to build a traditional rod. A "Y" block powered 31 coupe. This sounded awesome with the headers uncorked. I just love the sound of "Y" blocks in full roar. |
| How about the Plymouth convertible, shaved, slammed and still being motivated by the old flat head six. |
| The location was perfect. Luckily there had been some rain over the past weeks, as everything was green and lush. Another modern attendant. I'm not sure what year model this Corvette is, but he's proud to fly the Uncle Sam flag. |
| I'm not up on my customs, but this looks like a Pontiac. Regardless, it's a beautiful car with very nice paint and trim |
| This Chevy SS Impala had the most amazing paint I've seen in a long time. The pictures don't do it justice. It is metallic and flawless. |
| Here is a group of Tri 5s...not one being less than superb. |
| This pink and black 55 had been built since the mid 1980s, I was told, but looks just like it was finished yesterday. Appears like he just changed the wheels....It must be timeless. |
| OK, how could I not forget the 37 in it's topless condition. Looks just as nice with the top down. What a pleasure to drive. I parked it under these trees to cool it down a bit before we went home. | |
| It looks quite nice contrasted against the greenery. |
