March 2006

This is the month where I plan on reuniting the body with the chassis for the last time.. I have  tentatively booked the 37 in for paint early next month. The paint has been ordered. Its Spies Hecker black and it's the deepest black they make.

I have some pre work to finalise before it can be sprayed, so it's full steam ahead.

I thought the latest pic of the engine looks great with the bug catcher and some more bling. The catcher will be under bonnet, but still looks the part. Sorry about the mess around the chassis. This is what I have to contend with working in the conditions I have.

Next pic is the exhaust routed in and ready for hanging. I had to heat up the drivers side and bend it another 10 degrees. Those are glass pack mufflers. They should sound nice without being to rappy ( if thats a word ).

This the under body  sprayed with Stone Guard. I later painted it with 2 pack.

Next pic is the fire wall now painted. It came out fairly nice. ( not that you can see too much here, you will have to take my word for it )

I sprayed the inner wheel wells with Stone Guard.

Next pic is now painted in 2 pack.

For the regulars that visit my site and are wondering if I have put my feet up and resting. Well I am still working, but not on the 37 at this time. I am doing some panel beating and spray painting to the family hack. It had a few dings and I am in the process of getting it ready to be sold. There is no major panel work, just some shopping mall dings and an altercation Marg had with a pole while backing out. I have replaced the guard and repaired the boot lid. It's all good practice for the 37. I am still learning this 2k paint. It turned out nice. Just need to rub it back with some 1200 and buff it up. It will be better than new. Its last duty will be to trailer the 37 to the spray painters and back. After that, I will advertise it for sale. It's will be shame cause its a nice, reliable car with fairly low Kms. I just can't afford the luxury of 2 family cars now we have the PT Cruiser. Oh yeah, I have spoken to the spray painter and we have scheduled the 37 for paint either the second or last week of April...So I better pull my finger out!

I had some stuff arrive from the US. The first items are the side curtain post holes. These came from a 36 roadster, cause as we all know, they didn't make a 37 roadster;-). I drilled out the original holes and these item just fell in. I will need to figure out the best way to anchor them in permanently after its painted. The next pic is Marg holding my wind wing brackets in their intended position. Again, these are off a 36 but look like they will do the job nicely.

Well that's it for March. Not a lot done on the 37, but I explained why. All the distractions are out of the way ( I hope ) so next month should see some progress. Hopefully, I will get it painted, but you never know.
