June 2006
| This is the month is where a lot happens. Firstly, I am taking a break and heading up to Wintersun, again. Same arrangements as last year. The girls are flying, and the boys are driving. When we arrive back home, the 37 is going to be painted. So there won't be up dates until about mid to late June. When I do update the site, it will have plenty of stuff. Wintersun 2006, the cars and music, plus the 37 in nice shiny black paint and partly assembled. I am taking a couple of weeks off work after we come back to make a concerted effort on the 37. The motivation I got from there last year worked well, so hopefully this happens again. Although, I don't think I need much, just having it painted is a huge motivation. |
| Firstly, I need to finish off the handbrake. I ran both cables into the transmission tunnel by making 2 small holes. The bracket you see on top was bolted inside the tunnel. I positioned it here to drill the mounting hole. Once that was done, I got under the car and ran the cables through the bracket and bolted it so the cables fit snug and out of the way of the tail shaft. I then mounted the cables as seen in the next pic. |

| This is the final set up. The seat plynth sits just over the cables. I then just attached the cables into the shoes and cut the cables to length. It works great and looks even better. Here it is exiting the transmission tunnel. You can also see the hangers I installed on the mufflers. There is a fair gap between the cables and mufflers, so there is no chance of rattling or fouling. |

| Here she sits, waiting for the truck to arrive. This is the first time the 37 has seen daylight in 6 1/2 years. All the panels are wrapped in bubble wrap, scattered all over my front lawn. |
| Charley arrives with the tilt tray and winches it onto the back. There was room for a lot of the panels as well. |
| Charley is a rodder and a collector of fine machinery so he knows how to transport peoples' pride and joys carefully anywhere around Australia. I highly recommend Charley to any one, so he gets a mention here. Next pic is Craig the painter and Charley setting the 37 up in the booth. |
| Next day, here she is looking like a new car. I am very pleased with the job Craig has done. He started at 3.30 a.m to get a good head start. I don't know of many painters with that much dedication. |
| There were a few minor reactions that occurred, but not through Craig's efforts. I take blame for any reactions. Craig's job was to get the paint on evenly without runs, which he done. I do take credit for the body repairs, and I think I did a fairly good job. Even the pros at the shop reckon I did good for a telco tech. There are only a couple of minor ripples or dents, but they are hard to see. I am not to concerned with them. |
| Here she is back home, glistening in the sun, but that is short lived as she is wheeled back into the clean garage. Marg is scriutineering at this point, but she is also pleased with the paint. |
| I am keen to get the new wheels on and see how they look, but first I need to swap out the rear tyres I bought as they are to wide. I couldn't resist taking this shot....how smooth is this, not a ripple anywhere. |
| Same on the passenger side. Geez, this could be a show car;-) You can just see the wheels I bought last year. I could not get a straight on pic because I have no room to use. They are Colorado Customs "Snow Mas" and they look spot on IMHO. |
| The tyres are 255/15/60 Yokohama on the rear and 205/15/60 Sumitomos on the front. I did have 275 Sumitomos on the rear initially, but they were just to wide. I have also polished up the stainless steel tank and bolted it in. It's not to obtrusive. Boot lid with struts back on. Tank filler has been modified ( read cut and welded ) to suit the new tank. All plumbed in and ready for filling. |
| Here is the dash now bolted back in. I
had to fit the vent mechanism, wipers and demister vents before I bolted the
dash in. I was impatient to see how the gauges look, so I plonked them in.
The gold looks classy to me against the black. Next pic is a better angle of the wheels. They need to be cleaned up and the rear needs to settle a bit more, but you can get the idea of what I'm on about. |
